Summer 2009 Shows

The 2009 Summer show season was the Jalex herds 3rd season showing, and turned out to be the best yet, with 8 Champions being awarded and 2 reserve Champions, 17 1st places, 15 2nd places and just 7 3rds prizes.

• Our first show was Balmoral Show were we received 2, 2nd places with Red Lad, (Tivoli) and Smoothie (Alibaba), and qualified Oh Be Gees (Tivoli) for the Suckler Heifer Final in Moira.
• We next went to Ballymena show, where we got reserve Champion with Red Lad, and our heifer Blue Belle 2 qualified for the suckler heifer class.
• Ballymoney Show was our first Championship of the year with Oh Be Gees carrying home the silver.
• Oh Be Gees also did the job, winning Champion at both Omagh and Armagh Shows.
• At Castlwellan Show we got Champion pairs and 1st place heifer with no permanent teeth with Chunky- (Alibaba)
• We had a great day at Antrim Show getting Champion with our blue calf, Willies Girl, (Ross Willie), and Reserve with Miss Cadbury, (Alibaba), we also won all 3 classes we were entered in.
• Clogher Valley Show was the peak of the season for us where we got Champion with Black Beauty 1 an Angus calf aged only 6 months. This heifer was sold on the day to Mr. Harry Emslie, Aberdeen where she will continue to be shown. We also won the T.J. Booth Beef Bullock class with Sir Loin a sim x lim bullock.
• At the NICCEC show held at Moira, we received Champion and reserve Champion Angus with Black Beauty 1 and her twin sister Black Beauty 2, as well as reserve Champion pairs with the same 2 animals.
• We were then lucky enough to get Champion Commercial Charolais at the National Charolais show at Fintona with Bushmills Bad Boy.

We now have to wait and see what the Winter Shows will bring!

Black Magic Snapped Up For Leading Show Team

The MacPherson family from Oban are noted for being one of the leading  commercial show men in the business and have a number of prestigious titles  under their belt including Smithfield.

It is a real honour when folk with this kind of reputation purchase one of  your cattle to join their show team.

They spotted our Limousin steer "Black Magic" after wins at Antrim Show  where he was placed Champion and 1st at the NI Commercial Cattle Exhibitors Show  at Moira. He was also Reserve Male Champion at Enniskillen Show.

Black Magic is sired by the Jockey son Crillaune Armani - semen  available.

Harestone Farms Snap Up Stock Bulls

Following on from visits to the farm, Neil and Stuart Barclay finally made an offer we couldn't refuse for two of our most successful stock bulls "Tullygarley Alibaba" and "Ross Willie".

They have been very impressed with their progeny for a number of years now and felt that both of these bulls would be an asset to their large suckler  enterprise in Aberdeenshire.

They also added a Ross Willie son to their  shopping list for commercial use. He is bred from one of our best breeding  Limousin cows "Middledale Timid".

Black Beauty 5 On The Move

Following on from a faultless track record of the now legendary "Black Beauty 1 and 2", the very smart younger sister "Black Beauty 5" is set to make her show debut this autumn under the new ownership of brother and sister team Sam & Sarah Matchett, Portadown.

Purchased at foot with her mother Black Beauty 5 is also sired by the successful Aberdeen Angus bull "Lisduff Duke" bred by Leo McEnroe.

News “Flash”

Stop press!! -  Jalex are back in the headlines with their Tullygarley Alibaba sired charolais heifer "Flash".

Following on from show success this summer when Flash was placed Reserve Champion at Armagh, Antrim and the National charolais Show at Fintona she was recently snapped up by a leading commercial producer in the south of Ireland.

Flash was purchased for breeding, and also further showing. She made her debut at the recent Winter Fair held at Kilkenny where she was placed 2nd in a strong class of heifers.

Shakira Topping The Charts For Jalex

As soon as Shakira hit the ground we thought she was pretty special. Sired by the successful Limousin stock bull Hightown Cassius, she offers the full package of quality and style.

Shakira made her debut show appearance at the NI Limousin Club Calf Spectacular held in Moira where she was Reserve Champion amidst stiff competition.
 
She was spotted by Derbyshire based showman Andrew Dickinson, who purchased her to add to his show team. She made her next appearance at the Beef Expo held recently in Carlisle where she tipped the scales at 220 kilos.

Despite being one of the youngest on show, this July born heifer secured a 4th place award in a class of 14. She now heads to "Smithfield" at the East of England Show later this week.
