Jalex Show Team Hit Big Time at Balmoral
The NI Commercial’s Club Annual Show is one of the toughest nuts to crack each year with the very best cattle forward from six counties.
We were blown away to collect the Reserve Supreme Championship with the cocky Limousin steer “Rockafella”. This Hightown Cassius son certainly looked the part on the day for us, winning the Male Championship Resever Overall Champion and Reserve Limousin Championship.
Our success story didn’t end there with our team winning red tickets in all of the open steer classes. This exceeded our wildest expectations and we were delighted with this result. “Rockafella” was the first to secure a red ticket under judge Mike Alford in the light weight steer class, followed by the Ross Willie son “Smooth Operator” in the middle weight class and finally on winning form in the heavyweight steer class was “Super Trooper” shown by ourselves and Robert Simpson.
We were particluarily pleased with our Carmorn Cantona daughter “Pippa” which stood second to the Overall Champion in her class before lifting the Reserve Female Championship.
Also earning his keep was “Fuel Injection” who was first placed male calf. This youngster is sired by our British Blue bull Black N Blue Diesel.
Another by the same sire was “Dirty Bit” who was Reserve Male Champion and Reserve British Blue Champion. He’s another one by Diesel. He was shown with his team mate “Bootylicious” in the Pairs Championship where they walked away with the Reserve spot.
It was a great show for the Jalex team with our home bred stock featuring well throughout the classes. It was also rewarding to see Jalex bred stock picking up tickets for other exhibitors.
Well done to the organisers of the show – it was a super event from start to finish, and was great to see young Bartley Finnegan do so well at the age of just 13.

The Jalex Commercial show season kicked off with Balmoral where our heavyweight bullock “Super Trooper” secured the Male Championship. We were delighted how well he came out with super top and plates impressing judge Terry Coghill who travelled from the Orkney islands to place the commercial classes.
In the British Blue pedigree section our senior stock bull “Black N Blue Diesel” came up trumps winning the Male Championship. The judge described him as one of the longest blue bulls that he had ever seen.

Baby Blues Storm to Victory at Armagh
It was a case of success at the double for James Alexander at Armagh Show when his Jalex Commercial team scooped the Interbreed Pairs Championship. The winning duo are January 2011 born daughters of his top ranking British Biue bull “Black N Blue Diesel”, and were a perfect match on the day. This hotly contended competition featured a fantastic line up including all of the main native and contentintal breeds, and was judged by Tom Ashton, Lancashire.

Jalex calves hit the mark at Clogher
Clogher Show is always regarded as one of the toughest nuts to crack with a strong entry each year, and a number of seriously good cattle out for the first time.
This years show was brilliant with a packed ringside glued to the judging all morning.
We were delighted to win the 2011 born calf class with our little madam “Bootylicious” who is enjoying a super year. She is one of the first calves by Black N Blue Diesel, and we are really pleased with how she is performing.
Another class leader was the flashy “Rockafella” sired by our successful Limousin bull Hightown Cassius. He’s another one of our favourites at Jalex, and we have high hopes for him as he has that “x factor” in our humble opinion! He ended up reserve junior champion at Clogher under english judges Tim Brassington and Joe Lennox.
Our day at Clogher ended up on a high when “Super Trooper” won the beef bullock championship and then went on to collect the reserve supreme award. This bullock which is showed between ourselves and Robert Simpson has had a brilliant track record this season.
